Institute Board Considers Endorsement Program for Vendors (August 20, 2009) - Responding to requests by product and service vendors for some form of visible recognition that their product or service incorporates humaneering technology in its design, the Institute Board appoints a special committee to consider parameters for an endorsement program.
Speaking about this announcement, Board Director Doug Jakubik adds, "We are a nonprofit organization and want to maintain a non-commercial, vendor-neutral position in the competitive marketplace. Simultaneously, we naturally want to support industry pioneers and early adopters of humaneering technology simply because humaneering results in more effective work design, improved operational performance for employers, and increased workforce motivation and satisfaction. It is not like we are trying to sell something; humaneering technology is free. Furthermore, it is inevitable that, at some point in the future, managers and even employees will recognize the importance of choosing work system elements that are based on humaneering principles. What we want to look at now is how involved should we be in supporting that evolution."
The Institute Board will not give specifics regarding vendors and how humaneering technology might change human resource support systems. This silence is consistent with the Institute's privacy policy, which is designed to enable individuals and companies to work with the Institute without concern for their name being exploited.
The committee established by the board is made up of Institute staff, vendors, operations managers, and marketing professionals, and its principle objective is to identify and frame the issues requiring consideration. The work of the committee will include an outreach for comment from other vendors, operations managers, procurement specialists, and others frequently involved in work-system-related purchase decisions. Next steps will be determined when the committee makes its report early in 2010. |
